Drivers Education – online Drivers Ed, In-class Instructions or Parent Taught

Those of you want to obtain a drivers license in the US may have looked into one of the drivers education programs already. If you have done a little research, you might have noticed that you are not limited to just one type of the drivers ed program, most states are very flexible these days. You may choose to complete a conventional driver’s education program, when you would have to attend a class. You may also choose between different online drivers ed courses. Online drivers education courses are a great thing for those who have tight schedules, you can take them any time, any day, all you need is a computer with access to the Internet. For teenagers, there is also parent taught drivers ed, where a parent performs instructor’s duties and teaches the youngster on-road skills, traffic rules and road signs. Both the online driver’s education and parent-taught driver’s education may offer online permit tests that will help you prepare for the written exam at the DMV. According to the law, every teenage Texas driver license applicant who is under 18 years of age must complete a state-approved driver education course. The course may be offered in high-school or you may choose to take the course at a local driving school. Starting 1997, the DPS also approved a number of parent taught driver education courses. Texas parent taught driver education courses may be taken at home at your own convenience, saving you the hassle of going to scheduled lessons at school.

How do I get my driver’s license in California?

A frequently asked question is “How old do I have to be to get a driver’s license in California?”. If you live in California, you must be at least 15 and ½ years old to apply for your learner’s permit and 16 years old to apply for your driver’s license.

If you are a teenage student who seeks to apply for a permit, you should know that the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) requires every applicant under 17 ½ years old to complete a state approved driver education course and obtain the certificate of completion. The driver’s education course will teach you everything you need to know to pass the DMV permit test and prepare you for your on-road experience.

In addition to taking a driver’s education course, you will also need to sign up for one of the Behind-The-Wheel drivers’s training courses and get your proof of enrollment. Please note: you will not be taking any driving lessons at this time as you are not allowed to be behind the wheel unless you have a driving permit or a driver’s license, you just need to get a paper stating that you are enrolled in the course. You can sign up for behind the wheel training with any local driving school.

Once you have the certificate of completion for a driver’s education course and proof of enrollment for driver’s training, you can schedule your permit test with the DMV. This can be done either through the CA DMV website or by calling 1-800-777-0133. You may want to try the DMV practice tests before you go in for the real one.
